WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?

Children use play as an instinctive means to learn, communicate and explore their world and gain a sense of identity.  Play is universal and vital to every child’s development.
Play Therapy uses a variety of play and creative arts techniques to alleviate chronic, moderate and mild psychological and emotional conditions in children that are causing behavioural problems.  Children who suffer from anxiety, anger, ADHD, trauma, separated/divorced parents, bereavement or low esteem, for example, can all be helped through play therapy.
Play therapy is particularly effective with children who find it difficult to articulate their emotions. It enables children to gain insight into resolving conflicting emotions or feelings in a safe, non-judgemental and child-led environment.
